Experience Jewish wisdom that is meaningful and relevant to your everyday life via a gentle Iyengar-based yoga and movement practice rooted in Jewish mystical teachings.  The High Holy Days are a time of new beginnings and renewed commitment to living in physical and spiritual alignment with our deepest intentions. Following Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we enter the holidays of Sukkot, Simchat Torah, and the Hebrew month of Cheshvan, a month of rest, integration, and inwardness.  Experience an alternative point of connection to Jewish life as we celebrate this entire season of renewal on the Jewish calendar through movement practices that nourish your whole being – mind, body, heart and soul.

No previous experience with yoga or knowledge about Jewish Holidays is required. Please wear comfortable loosely layered clothing in which you can easily move. Yoga mats and blankets will be provided but bring your own if you desire!

Workshop Fee: Public $108 | CBS Members $54

This year’s workshop is offered in partnership with Character Day, www.letitripple.org/character-day/techshabbat/, September 27-28, 2019!

Character Day is an annual global event that brings together millions of people in schools, companies, homes -- anywhere people already gather -- to engage in character/Middot development (gevurah, chesed, hakarat hatov), which, science shows, leads not only to stronger school and career performance, but also to stronger, more engaged individuals and a more just world.

Torah Yoga Retreat: The Art of Inwardness

  • Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center (map)

Through the study of Torah and the practice of yoga, we will seek out the light in our body, mind, heart, soul, and ultimately the world.

The 19th century Chassidic Rebbe Sfat Emet teaches that everything in the human form hints to divine inner worlds and that the physical body is the doorway to spiritual realities. With Torah study and yoga practice we open the doorways of our body, mind, heart, and soul to ever-deepening inner worlds.
