Embodied Teshuvah
with Julie Emden
Join us for this 5-part series beginning in the month of Elul as we approach the New Year on the Hebrew Calendar, a time of new beginnings and renewed commitment to living in physical and spiritual alignment.
Aug 22: Essence/Etzem (עֶצֶם)
Aug 29: Inwardness/Pnimiut (פְּנִימִיוּת)
Sept 5: Surrender/ Bitul (בִּטּוּל)
Sept 12: Shevarim/Brokenness (שברים)
Sept 19: Return/ Teshuvah (תשובה)
The month of Elul is a time for focusing inward and drawing nearer to our essence, on all levels of being. It is said that in the month of Elul we are closest to our own hearts and to the heart of the Divine.
Join us as we release old patterns and return to the most aligned, resourced and connected aspects of our true nature on all levels of being- mind, heart, body and soul.
As we embody teachings based upon the Hebrew letters, the Hebrew calendar, and from ancient and contemporary mystics, each week we will embody a quality of spiritual refinement that is rooted in the physical experience, as we journey towards an ever-deepening into ourselves.
Each session begins with a few theme-related Jewish wisdom teachings and time for dropping into the sensing body. The majority of time is spent in a brief guided movement practice infused with the teachings, followed by free exploration in movement or stillness, with a carefully curated music playlist. We end with time for rest, integration, reflection and witnessing as we share the insights and discoveries that have arrived through our embodiment practices.
Modalities include but are not limited to: embodied mindfulness, gentle movement, gentle Iyengar-based Yoga, free-form conscious dance, messy art-making, creative writing, and journaling.
You are invited to actively participate in movement, rest or stillness for the entire time. No previous knowledge, skill level or ability is required for this class series.
Sign Up for Series Only, but you may miss a class and watch the recordings.
Via Zoom. Can’t join live? Recordings for viewing in your own time will be shared with you!
