Invoking Jewish Tradition for Resilient & Joyful Action
October 18, 2020 - Jan 10, 2021
Join Embodied Jewish Learning on Nov 15: Moving Through Time in Our Jewish Bodies
Featuring teaching from the Mitsui Collective and Embodied Jewish Learning, with music from Rabbi Sandra Lawson and call to action from Dove Kent of Bend the Arc
WHY
This year, Jews are taking action all over the country amidst 3 intersecting challenges - a global health pandemic, a global economic crisis and a national uprising to manifest racial justice. Many are facing inevitable realities of exhaustion and rage and, given our virtual reality, many of us are having a harder time gathering around the deep wells of our tradition. While we can’t be together in person, we can gather virtually as a Jewish community to sing, pray, sit, hear Torah and more - a time to derive nourishment and guidance from the tradition as we step into the storm. As we pray and work for peace and justice, may this be a place of resilience, fortification and connection.
WHO
This is geared for Jewish activists and leaders who are organizing, guiding, and/or supporting others in mobilizing the vote, from now through Inauguration Day. It is being organized and offered by Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, JOIN for Justice, Rise Up, and others.
WHAT
This 5-session series will be led by Jewish teachers and practitioners skilled at opening a range of portals into the wisdom of Jewish tradition, including text study, song, contemplation, embodiment and ritual. We will leave with the grounding, inspiration, and community needed to sustain us as we continue to be called to rise to the occasion.
Sessions will last for one hour, from 7-8 pm EST on the following Sundays;to register for any or all of the sessions, please use this link: http://bit.ly/Fortification2Mobilize
