A Time to Build: EJW NETWORK COMMUNITY GATHERING
Monday, October 4, 2021
10am PST | 1pm EST | 8pm ISR [90 mins]
With Kohenet Aliza Rivka, Idelle Packer, Kendra Fried, and Aaron Nankin as our guides.
With gesture, dance, and movement we will awaken our bodies to new possibilities for the coming year. Resources are the Hebrew letters themselves, holding and unfolding new meanings to the concept of ‘building’, offering clues, prods, and teachings to accompany the journey of our year ahead in unpredictable and delightful ways.
Every other month we join together around a theme for embodied practice and to experience one another’s leadership. We will share teaching gems for the current season; capture new themes; acknowledge methods that we have found to be especially inspiring for us and our students. Each session is led by a few members of the collective and includes time for gathering in smaller groups to deepen our connection over time.
Community Gatherings are offered bi-monthly as part of the Embodied Jewish Wisdom Network. Become a member to attend these events live, or to view after, and connect with our growing community!
Idelle Packer, MS, PT will guide us in the large group practice. Idelle’s teaching springs from a matrix of studies of Somatics, dance and Judaic wisdom spanning a 40-year journey. Her dance background includes choreography and performance; BA Sarah Lawrence College in dance and children’s theater. Her most recent full evening-length work, Etude 22: Meditation on the Aleph Bet, a performance piece for 10 dancers, was performed in Asheville, NC. She credits Contact Improvisation masters Alicia Grayson, Nita Little and Martin Keogh as influences in both dance and teaching styles. A foundation of body knowledge informs her dance, choreography and teaching: Alexander Technique Teacher Certification and Masters in Science/Physical Therapy, Columbia University. Idelle continues her Judaic studies with Rabbi Mieri and Diane Bloomfield and works closely with the concepts of the Meru Foundation who revealed to her the gestural cognitive patterns of the Hebrew alphabet. She integrates her somatic studies and love of dance expression with her investigations into the mystical secrets of the Hebrew letters, a unique approach to embodying Jewish wisdom.
The Embodied Jewish Wisdom Network offers quarterly virtual events and community connection, inspiration and resource sharing for leaders and learners of Embodied Jewish Wisdom worldwide.
