Authentic Relating (AR) is a skill set and embodied practice that-- in the words of ART International-- "empowers you to be more alive, awake and aware in all your relationships – with self, others, and the world." During the Hebrew month of Elul-- in which we are each encouraged to undertake a transformative journey of deeper connection with Self, Other, and Spirit-- Authentic Relating provides a profound pathway through self-awareness, personal growth, and conflict transformation, en route to Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Over the course of three experiential, AR-infused sessions, we will explore the foundational "Five Practices" of Authentic Relating, and develop a toolkit for deepening our present-moment connections and relationships in all realms.
In our first session, we will explore Authentic Relating as an “embodied language” and dive into the foundational Authentic Relating exercises (a.k.a. “games”) that reveal the power of the Five Practices that will guide us: Welcome Everything, Assume Nothing, Reveal Your Experience, Own Your Experience, and Honor Self and Other. In the course-corrective spirit of Elul, we will explore the potent practice of "Authentic Complaining" as an empowering pathway towards "Owning Your Experience." It is from this embodied place of ownership that we can begin to move into the conflict transformation and relational repair that so many of us strive for during the High Holiday Season.
